Since all of this, sadly, "Charlton Spotlight" editor-publisher Michael Ambrose has passed away. Some of his back issues have become available again and if anyone is interested, please contact me and I will help you get in touch with a dealer who is selling them. Thanks! The book has a cover by George, the two Timmy stories (one with Atomic Rabbit in a cameo), and in the middle is an older, unpublished story written and lettered by Bill Pearson, who wrote Popeye for George (Western/Gold Key/Whitman) and worked as his assistant editor at Charlton. Bill's story was illustrated by "Z. Capistance" (not his real name) circa 1980. Bill recently colored it by hand, using pencils, and it looks great!Donnie Pitchfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05907377971284249354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6028911836649669351.post-21508735443981561832014-09-22T08:57:19.292-04:002014-09-22T08:57:19.292-04:00Donnie: I can't wait!Donnie: I can't wait!Mykal Bantahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12148489896145024134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6028911836649669351.post-43181013471070659522014-09-22T00:09:33.738-04:002014-09-22T00:09:33.738-04:00Here's a 2014 George Wildman update! I've know George for 40 years. I started writing to him at age 12 or 13 and consider him a mentor. He will be profiled in a soon-to-be-released issue of "Charlton Spotlight" for which I painted the cover, a portrait of George at work. Incidentally, George's final Charlton "Popeye" was dated 1977, but about a year later he resumed drawing the character for Western (Gold Key/Whitman) until about 1982. I'd be glad to submit more information if you're interested. I passed this along to his son just now too.Donnie Pitchfordhttp://www.charltonspotlight.netnoreply@blogger.com
