Irving Dressler showed his animation talents with some very lively drawings. So many of these stories looked as if they came out of 1940s Famous Studios cartoons, or other cartoons of that ilk, and that MAY have been the secret to whatever success they had.

For anyone interested in that sort of discussion, I kind of expand on that thought, and the topic of “Kids’ Comics” in general, in THIS BLOG POST of mine, where I disagree with something said by the great Carl Barks. Of course Mr. Barks stated his position in 1962, and my rebuttal occurred in 2011, so I wouldn’t exactly call it a debate. And, not surprisingly, “Unca Carl” would eventually be proven right over time – just not (I feel) when he originally said it.

Also, when I wrote this, the classic character Disney comic books, (WALT DISNEY’S COMICS AND STORIES, DONALD DUCK, MICKEY MOUSE, and UNCLE SCROOOGE) were still being published – and I was still writing scripts for some of them – so that was then-cause for celebration. Now, it’s three years and counting without them, with no end to that situation coming.

Oh, and that’s not a BEACH BALL… it’s a PLANET!
Joe Torciviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00421096229407174474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6028911836649669351.post-77866911348125841892014-08-07T21:18:47.250-04:002014-08-07T21:18:47.250-04:00KW: Ha!
