Great to be with you all again, kids!
Let’s enjoy another story from the late, great Warren Kremer, who has always been in the top five or so of my favorite comic book artists of all time.
As I mentioned in the last post, I believe the character and stories about Stumbo the Giant to be an example of the artist at the summit of his powers. Everything is beautifully rendered, of course, but in Stumbo, Kremer's panel compisition and drawing possessed a feel for ratio and perspective that was always marvelous: The massive hugeness of Stumbo always looked perfectly set amongst the landscape, buildings, and population of Tinytown. Every panel a piece of eye candy.
Also on display in this story: what a beatuful and brisk storyteller was Mr. Kremer. The mutual love between Stumbo and the resident’s of Tinytown are on warm and wonderful display in this five page story, “Warmth Wanted.”
This story is from Devil Kids Starring Hot Stuff No. 41 (September 1969)
Well, that's all for now, Kids! Next up: Let's delve a bit more into the this issue of Devil Kids with a story featuring Hot Stuff by Howie Post. Stay tuned!
I will see you all again very soon. Until then, I hope you are all warm, safe, and happy!
